Capital Campaign: El Portal Del Norte-Doorways to Life Capital Campaign
In 2006, following a intense study and planning, the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV launched a capital campaign to fund a building project that would allow the Club to more effectively serve an increasing number of youth in the Edinburg & surrounding areas.
The job we set out to do is challenging. The present Boys and Girls Club facilities are inadequate in every measurable way. The buildings are in need of significant repair, are inadequate in size for the present and projected number of youth served and are not designed to meet the program needs for youth in the 21st Century.
It’s time that we fulfill our commitment to the kids who attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV. These young people deserve the kind of facilities that reflect the belief that their lives have value and worth. Therefore, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV are engaged in a capital project to build an entirely new facility of 32,700 square feet. The new facility will have two gyms for exercise, physical fitness and recreation; classrooms for educational programming; a technology center to equip youth for the information age; and, a kitchen and dining area. The Board and the Capital Campaign Committee, under the leadership of Cullen Looney and Robert Gandy, is fully committed to making this a reality and has approved the El Portal Del Norte-Doorways to Life Campaign with a goal of $11.4 million (Includes the $4.5 million value of the donated 20 acres of land on Rogers & 281).

The new Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV El Portal Del Norte Doorways to Life Complex will belong to all off us. It will have a 5 acre park to be utilized by the entire community and a 32,700 square foot community facility. It will make a statement about the quality of life in our town and serve as a yardstick by which the community as a whole will be measured. Now you can take symbolic ownership of this new facility and park complex.

with a contribution of $25 for each Square Foot. You’ll make an important contribution
to the future for the youth of Edinburg, yourself, your family and your community. Purchase a Square Foot (or Feet!) for yourself, a friend or family member, or in memory of a loved one. Consider one as a gift for birthdays, graduations or other special occasions. Each Square Foot owner will receive a personalized Certificate of Ownership. What’s more, recognition of Square Foot contributors will be permanently displayed at the Club. Each Square Foot will be celebrated on a special display inscribed with the holder’s name. You will leave a legacy to be recognized for generations!
